A.J asked:

Cane you name some ways a teenager can go blind, slowly? Is it possible to just have horrible vision an eventually loose sight?

Details please

don’t worry, alot of ppl hav horrible vision w/ their glasses, but they wont go blind. only like laser and sun damage,….reading in the dark and stuff like that harms your eyes, but won’t make u blind.

yes. I have a friend who has horrible vision, which is constantly getting worse. even now she is considered legally blind. some things that could cause teenage blindness, other than bad eye sight from birth, could include concussions, poor care of eyes (like coloring your contacts with marker so your eyes appear a different color), or any physical damage to the eyes in an accident. these things aren’t common, though, so don’t worry! if you’re worried about your eyes of if you have a friend with this problem, contact a doctor. it’s better to be safe than sorry!

Maybe if the teenager has type 2 diabetes, because this can cause blindness due to the delicate blood vessels in the eyeballs being damaged by the high pressure of blood.

Many teenagers are overweight/obese and type 2 diabetes can be an outcome of overweightness or obesity. That’s just one reason that I can think of anyways. Maybe there are hereditary stuff that you can count in as well?

i dont think this is common but i this story once. there was a man who had a fly, fly into his eye. he thought he had got it out but he hadn’t. the fly laids eggs and they hatched. the man then went blind.
common ways are:
sitting too close to the tv
looking up at the sun.
dont wear other peoples’ glasses otherwise you’ll need glasses because the power will affect your eyes.

If you are experiencing loss of vision, go to a doctor ASAP. When I was 12 I began to lose sight in my right eye, but was too scared to say anything. Finally it was time for the school nurse to do physicals, so I told my parents about my vision. Turned out I had an orange sized brain tumor that damaged my optic nerve. I had surgery to remove it. That was over twenty years ago and I still cant see with my right eye, but at least I’m here to advise you to seek medical attention. Good luck!
