I would say about 15 or 16. That’s when I started working!

15 with a lot of restrictions, and 16 legally. They still have to be home by a certain hour, and they’re not allowed to work certain hours on the weekdays.

i would have to say they can start work at 16 and some places 15 and other places sometimes 18

15 or 16, but if it’s a family business, there is no age limitation.

15 or 16 and they have laws on how much you can work even then.

It depends what state your in. In my state you may begin working at age 14. The problem is that child labor laws are such in America that almost nobody other then grocery stores will hire young teens. You cannot work for more then four hours without a half hour break and can’t work past a certain time etc. etc.,

14, in some places. My friend is 14 and she works at McDonalds

dueoct16boy#3 on 17 February, 2009 at 1:32 am #

12 babysit and things like that, 14 sometimes offers some more options, 15 they can usually do things like bag groceries but by 16 there are more options to work at

In NJ (don’t know or aware of anywhere else) you are allowed at the age of 14 but a its just passing out flyers. you must ask permission from the mayor. you can do other things too. now for a part time job would be either 15 or 16.

stargodess8 on 23 February, 2009 at 5:12 pm #

It is 15 for certain things and 16 for most jobs. However, at least in NY working permits are needed for anyone under 18. I bet it depends on where you live.

badspeller on 28 February, 2009 at 6:27 am #

from 14 you can get papers to work the summer time only, lest than 4 hrs per day

Dragon_Of_The_Claw on 28 February, 2009 at 1:57 pm #

put it this way whats the youngest kid you have seen with a paper round?
minimum wage starts at a certain age.

there are a lot of restrictions:
hours between 7and 7
4 hours max per week
job type restrictions.
and more….
